From Knowledge to Systems Thinking. From Systems Thinking to Application.
DESQUELET® is the common strategic-development methodology used across the TBP Global Strategist Fellowship Institute. It provides Fellows with a structured way to move beyond simply learning about existing systems — helping them understand complex problems, explore how systems interact, challenge assumptions, frame new possibilities, test ideas, develop execution pathways and examine how solutions can transfer across projects, sectors and regions.
Within the Fellowship, DESQUELET® is not taught as an abstract theory. It is applied directly to curated TBP projects.
Knowledge Is the Beginning, Not the Destination
Traditional learning often starts by asking what a subject, technology or system is. DESQUELET® pushes the participant further.
Traditional Learning Asks
What is this subject, technology or system?
DESQUELET® Asks
Why does the system work this way?
What problem is it really solving?
What assumptions are shaping it?
What alternatives could exist?
How can the proposition be tested?
How could it be implemented?
Can it work somewhere else?
This shift is central to the TBP Fellowship. The methodology moves the learner from observation into structured investigation, strategic development and application. DESQUELET® is intended to transform knowledge into systems thinking, testing and development, while the Fellowship converts that work into documented professional evidence.
Nine Stages. One Connected Development Journey.
Select a letter to explore that stage — its purpose, the core question it asks, typical activity and what a Fellow might produce.
A Living Methodology, Not a Rigid Sequence
Although DESQUELET® is expressed through nine stages, real project development is rarely perfectly linear. A Fellow may:
DESQUELET® should therefore be understood as a connected development cycle, not simply nine boxes to tick.
One Methodology. Different Professions. Different Outcomes.
Every Fellow applies the same broad methodology, but the outputs vary according to their field.
Engineer
Finance Professional
AI Specialist
Policy Strategist
This reinforces that DESQUELET® is a common methodology without making every Fellowship identical.
The Same Methodology, Applied at Different Depths
DESQUELET® structures the Fellow's Primary Project, research, strategic analysis, applied project work, simulation where relevant, execution thinking, and transferability into Supporting Projects.
Focus: Applied strategic learning and professional project experience.DESQUELET® is used more deeply within one substantial project — structuring the research question, systems investigation, technical development, modelling, simulation, testing, validation and implementation thinking.
Focus: Deep specialist research and development.Knowledge → Wisdom → Strategy → Impact

This is an interpretive relationship, rather than a claim that the nine DESQUELET® letters were originally designed as four fixed categories.
Example: Future Offshore Energy System
A Fellow does not simply ask a surface-level question. DESQUELET® reframes it into an investigable proposition.
What is floating offshore wind?
How could floating offshore energy be incorporated into a standardised, modular and transferable offshore infrastructure system, and what research, modelling, testing and partnerships would be required to make it possible?
A Traceable Method, Not Just a Conclusion
DESQUELET® produces a traceable method showing how a conclusion or design was developed.
Research
Evidence, precedent and problem understanding.
Strategic Thinking
Questions, alternatives and frameworks.
Models & Simulations
Test ideas before accepting them.
Design & Development
Turn propositions into tangible outputs.
Execution Thinking
Understand what implementation would require.
Professional Evidence
Document how the conclusion or solution was developed.
Don't Just Learn What Exists. Learn How to Think About What Could Exist Next.
Understand deeply.
Explore systems.
Plan strategically.
Question assumptions.
Frame differently.
Engage effectively.
Learn through simulation.
Design for execution.
Test for transferability.
Apply DESQUELET®. Build Applied Experience. Develop Evidence for What Comes Next.
